Let me add more detail –I had a site that was hacked — code for ads for “cialis” appeared in the footer.php, etc. and I cleaned everything out and the site has been clean since then. Google had been showing “this site may have been hacked” messages, etc. — all clear now and since.
I’ve been running Wordfence and had been running Better WP Security but when that became iThemes Security it conflicted with the site in question and I had to remove it. So I’ve only been running Wordfence. The hack was in February.
But now the client’s hosting company (IX Webhosting) is telling me that Wordfence got into a loop requesting the admin-ajax.php file and overloaded the server and they had to temporarily shut the site down. Site is back up, Wordfence still running, but I’d like to replace it if I can.
Hi @vytaulla51, I have been using All In One WP Security & Firewall for quite some time on all my websites. I don’t use any of the other plugins in conjunction with this great plugin that you mentioned above. I also use in conjunction with this plugin Google Authenticator. Both give me a great sense of security 😉
This has been working for me without a problem. Of course there are other factors when it comes to security breached websites. Here are two URLs you might like to read from the plugins developers.
- Site one
- Site two
I hope the above helps you understand security and this plugin.
Kind regards
