• Trying to back up my WordPress blo using Backup from my CPanel, I get the home directory in tar.gz and the sqldatabase in sql.gz. Is there any way to get them in zip format? My Windows Vista didn’t know how to open the file, Internet Explorer suggested using WinZip, which I don’t have. Instead I downloaded 7-Zip which could extract the files.
But I don’t have any programs which can read sql. I finally opened the sql as suggested on Noteped.
Could someone please tell me if after downloading the home directory and the sqldatabase
I have to extract the files or leave them untouched and uncompressed
If I have to extract before uploading them again on the server if something goes wrong
I have to upload them in the original home directory and database (if something goes wrong) overwriting the original data or copy them to alternative directory and database to check them first
Should I back up using Backup or phpMyAdmin which allows me to download as a zip file as well as in an uncompressed format?
With phpMyadmin I can back up only my posts and comments?
To back up my files, I still have to use Backup?
Please help. I am a newbie. Thank you.
