  • I haven’t run into that situation before. But, I certainly see why my plugin would do that.

I will see if I can come up with a solution, but it will be about 24 hours for a new Version if I come up with one.

Also, do you have anyone who logs in via the documented method SITEURL/wp-admin? If so, would they expect to get to the Landing Location?

    Thanks for the quick response!

People will log in by wp-login.php because when a new user is created the blog sends them an e-mail with the login details and a link to SITEURL/wp-login.php. They would expect to go to the landing location, the blog’s home page.

For context, I’ve set the blog up as a private way for my wife and I to document our new baby (due in a month!) for our family overseas. We’re creating users for immediate family members, some of whom are not tech savvy, so are likely to be confused by ending up at the profile page.

Our workaround at the moment is to send them an e-mail ourselves with the correct link, but many have already received an e-mail with the “incorrect” link and are likely to be confused by the extra e-mails we sent them trying to correct the problem. We’ll just have to deal with this in time.

    Once again, thanks!

I should clarify that we create the accounts for our family members; they don’t create their own accounts.

OK, I have a working test version.

However, I need to make this behaviour optional, not standard, as it may confuse or upset existing users of the plugin. Most notably, Administrators who use wp-login.php as a way to login. Obviously, they want to get directly to the Admin panels.

I’ll work on that now. And release a new version by tomorrow morning our time here in Western North America.

Version 2.10.1 has just be released to resolve this problem.

You must check the checkbox “Apply to wp-login.php?” in the Landing Location section to activate the behaviour you are asking for.

Wow, thank you! I’ll let you know how it goes.

This was also helpful for me, as i didnt understand what this was when i read the plugin, but now reading the info here, i understand perfectly and it is brilliant… Thanks
