Support » Requests and Feedback » Unpublished Posts still Published!!

  • Hi,

I have made several posts in “Unpublish” mode. It took me all day yesterday, but lo and behold, i looked at my metrics and i still get many visits on the “unpublished” posts so i investigate and followed the URL, and voila! the supposed unpublished posts are still published.

Also, if one tries to mass delete posts, it returns an error message instead., so that the only means to delete a post is to go and open the posts and delete each and everyone of them, a very tedious task indeed.

the post has previously been published but i wanted it unpublished or deleted. since unpublished is easier than delete, as mass delete cannot be done, i choose unpublished. no luck!

Once a post is published and the search engines have indexed them, these posts are now in the search engines’ cache. Unpublishing them just removes them from your site; they’re already happily swimming on the world wide web…

This thread doesn’t seem to address the main issue though: Why are unpublished posts or drafts showing up on the live blog?

Does anyone have an answer for this? Using version 2.6.

    Thanks much.

I would have liked to have the same answer too. unfortunately I am now turned to doing it manually. (oh well)

I haven’t experienced this problem yet, so can’t help you unfortunately.

    What may help is:

If I keep a post marked as unpublished I also mark it private which is just a doublecheck for myself. Maybe it can help in your case until it is figured out what is going on.

They don’t. So, if they are, then you need to make your question more clear and explain what the problem is.

Drafts do not show up on a WordPress site by default. If they are for you, then something else is making them show up.

The OP looked at the stats and saw the visits to posts that was previously published to the Web — and will now live happily on the Web until the end of the world. Nowehere was there a mention that thes eposts are visible by browsing the site directly. If that was the case, Otto42 is right: this is a completely different and more worrisome issue.
