My plugin by itself should not be generating 404 errors. I can’t get it to do it. With what you have described so far, I can’t repeat the errors you are getting.

Anyway, the sites you are attempting to access either exist or do not.

If site exists, then if the user is not logged in it will redirect them to wherever WordPress sends visitors with its auth_redirect function– i.e. the login page by default – and hopefully send them back to the page they were attempting to visit.

If the site they are attempting to visit does not exist, WordPress may be set up redirecting visitors to a noblogredirect page on the main domain.

My plugin shouldn’t be causing anyone that is logged in to be logged out, that sounds like something is broken indeed. Do you have other plugins running, or something else with your install different from the “vanilla” “out of the box” multisite install?
