I tried updating to the latest version of WP last week but something went wrong so I tried to reinstall my old files on my FTP (1&1) and now I can’t log in or see my blog, it’s just a white page and a redirecting error. How do I fix this without destroying all my previous posts?

  • There are significant changes to the 2.6 database storage. You really need to upload the 2.6 files since you have already run the installer from that version. Then if something is wrong – let’s fix it.

OK. Which files from my old install should I keep in order to maintain my design and posts?

Your posts are stored in the database so no worries there.
Keep the /wp-content folder intact and replace the rest.

OK. I’ve installed the new files. I can log in again, but I still can’t see my blog itself. It loads to a blank page. blog.chrisrouse.us

    Problem resolved.

    Nice theme you picked.
What was the resolution for others?

Pulled out my custom files from my FTP server then uploaded the new files and replaced my files into the upgrade. Not sure why that didn’t work the first time I tried it.
