subscribe to replies question

enabling threaded (nested) comments is a double edge sword – when enabled, i find that people often click the first available ‘reply’ button instead of starting a new thread, so i currently have it disabled

the problem is, with it disabled, one cannot reply to a particular comment, so how is the OP to know they have received a reply?

another problem is that the option to subscribe to replies to my comments is still available, but is not functional

i think part of the problem is that WP needs to do a better job at defining how comments are displayed

other than that, anyone have any advice?

i’d like people to be able to be notified of replies while threaded comments are disabled

i would also suspect that the option to subscribe to replies not be available if threaded comments are disabled
