• It appears all ‘Options’ in Settings<Tax are correctly checked and saved, but ‘Sales Tax’ is not displayed or calculated within cart or checkout pages. I have read the WooCommerce support pages over a couple of days. Please, do dont forward me to the WooCommerce support page, it does not help.

What am I overlooking? —Thank you.

  • Having the same problem after updating today, no tax calculation at cart page.
    Knew I shouldn’t have updated

@rhundl Feel free to watch this thread but if you still need help please start a new thread as per Forum Welcome because otherwise things get mixed up.

@chip G. To help diagnose the problem, would you be able to post screenshots of Admin page / WooCommerce / Settings / Tax tab – both the Tax options page and the Standard rates page. Please also post your site url.

‘Sales Tax’ is not displayed or calculated within cart or checkout pages.

You should set “Display prices during cart/checkout” to “Excluding tax”.

I suggest you set the “Price display suffix:” to “excl Sales tax” to inform customers.

I would uncheck “Rounding” until the site is debugged.

Taking the “Triple play” item as an example, on the product page please confirm you got the regular price set to $29.99, Tax status: taxable and Tax class: standard.

I see that on the cart page, the update cart and checkout buttons don’t work. Suggest you try resetting the permalinks by going to Settings / Permalinks and click Save Changes. There aren’t any changes but clicking save changes should reset the permalinks.

You have version 1.3 of your theme, but the current version is 1.4 so you should update.

I’m not hopeful the above will be enough to fix everything and more work may be needed.

Hello lorro— Implemented, updated and confirmed all revisions as instructed. All initial problems still exist.

Curious to know if this can eventually be debugged or would the resolve be to replace WooCommerce?

Would any other screenshots help you?

Please say what entries you have at Admin page / Settings / General / WordPress Address (URL) and ditto Site Address (URL). Both should be http://charliebubblesbook.com/wp

I think this can be debugged. Currently I think this is a problem to do with redirects and not WooCommerce. If so, it would be the same with any eCommerce solution.

lorro— implemented your instruction of, at Admin page / Settings / General / ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ should be the same. In my case the the Site Address URL did not end with /wp as does my WordPress Address.

So, now the ‘Cart’ does update and the ‘Proceed To Checkout’ does advance to checkout.

However, ‘Sales Tax’ still does not display or calculate.

    Much thanks, so far.

OK, In WooCommerce / Settings / Tax tab, you have set Calculate tax based on: Shop base address. In WooCommerce, there can be only one shop base address, and presumably you have set this to US on the General options tab. There is no facility to define the shop base address state and zip. Therefore there is no need to have multiple lines in the standard rate table. You should have only one line and this should be Country code = US, State code = * and Zip = *. On my dev site, putting in a zip disables tax calculations as you are experiencing. Multiple lines are only needed if tax is based on the customer’s shipping or billing address.

Wow. I never would of figured that out. Thank you.

How do I remove/delete the imported tax tables? Have not found the correct method to remove them.

You can press the control key, highlight each line, then click Remove selected row(s), but I guess you know that. So if there are too many and you are on an Apache server you can login to cpanel, go to PhpMyAdmin and run this sql command:

    TRUNCATE TABLE wp_woocommerce_tax_rates

Windows systems will have something similar.

lorro— Thank you for your excellent investigative work. If there is anything I can do in support of you, let me know. Much thanks to you.

For those people who needs tax rate table, I use the table from http://www.woosalestax.com. Their tax tables are light weight and also handle zip+4 at zip level. Currently, if a customer entered a zip+4 at checkout, and if you don’t have an exact match or use a wildcard(9001-2334 or 90001*) from your WC tax table, WC will not calculate tax for that zip+4.
