Contents of my custom fields not showing in custom post

I need someone to give step by step of how to display contents of custom field making use of this plugin. I am new to WordPress. I created some custom post type with custom fields, I added $data = simple_cck::get_post_data($post_id); to my single.php and its not showing my new contents.
Is there any thing I need to do again?
