    Hi all –

My plugin uses the Petfinder API to list pets on your website. Sometimes Petfinder’s Feed goes down or gets messed up. Usually the issue is resolved in a few hours. There is a new petfinder_down_message shortcode attribute you can set with a link to your shelter’s petfinder page. This message will display if Petfinder goes down and I suggest you set this message so your visitors can always find a list of your adoptable pets. This an example of my shortcode with the petfinder down message (you will need to set this shortcode using the “Text” tab instead of “Visual” on the WordPress editor to create a link to your shelter’s petfinder page in the message):

    [shelter_list count=40 sort_by="newest" petfinder_down_message='Petfinder is having issues, please <a href="http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelterid=WI69">click here</a> for a listing of our dogs with full-sized photos"]

If pets stopped displaying all of a sudden on your site, please use this forum to post your issue. That way we’ll know there is an issue and I can contact Petfinder if it appears their feed is down or troubleshoot the issue/point you in the right direction if you have an isolated case. Please don’t contact Petfinder directly unless you absolutely know the issue is on their end. They provide a free service we all use and I don’t want my plugin to become a burden to them.

    Thanks!
    Bridget
