That’s because your theme is restricting the search to just pages and posts. That’s what WooCommerce does. Adjust your theme: there’s probably a post_type restriction in your search form.

How can that be true, when without Relevanssi, the WooCommerce search DOES search products, as show in the screenshot above?

And do you know where in WooCommerce I would check to see restrictions? There’s not a “Search settings” section I know of.

And also if there is a search restriction, then why isn’t Relevanssi paying attention to its own restrictions, which tells it to NOT search pages and posts as I set it?

Can I see your site? That would be more helpful than a screenshot.

I’m not an expert on WooCommerce, it’s just my experience that people tend to complain about WooCommerce messing up their search experience. Hence a perhaps premature jump to conclusions.

If you have set Relevanssi not to index posts and pages, it will not index posts and pages. That makes me wonder whether the results you think are coming from Relevanssi are actually coming from Relevanssi at all. That is also possible.

    Sure. The site is: http://elevatedaudio.net/

I can give you a login to check out the backend, but I don’t see a way to post that privately here?

The current search is set to WooCommerce search, not Relevanssi.

At least your search form is doing unstandard stuff – it’s probably not triggering Relevanssi at all, since it’s missing the search term parameter ‘s’ (it’s named ‘rs’, which Relevanssi doesn’t understand).

If you change the search form so that the search term is named “s”, then Relevanssi might just work a bit better – though in that case you’ll lose the AJAX live search as well.

So, your theme is making it quite difficult to work with Relevanssi.

I temporarily changed the search name to s, activated Relevanssi, and it still produced the same results: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0e32r3b68c

Lots of garbage pages and then down the bottom, a guitar product page.

Well, I don’t know what’s going on in there. With a closer look, I could probably say something more useful, but I’m afraid I don’t have the time for that kind of support for non-customers at the moment.
