My favicon is showing as Starbucks

    So…one day I looked up at my website’s favicon and I saw the Starbucks symbol.

    I’m like…huh? That’s weird.

    Yeah…I can’t get rid of it. My theme (from Elegant Themes) has built in options, one of them is the favicon. I’ve tried to reset that. Nothing changes. I’ve looked for lines in the files that indicate the favicon…can’t find them.

    Something else that was strange before it turned to Starbucks…when I was on my site, the favicon was fine. But when I was logged into WP (wp-admin) an old favicon of mine showed up.

    Anyhow…I’m stumped.

    I’m sorry but as you appear to be using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial products here.

    OK…so forget that I have a commercial theme. Let’s talk Favicons. Why might this be happening? Where should I look?

    I can’t even find a favicon file when I use FTP to look at my site’s file.

    Let’s troubleshoot a bit…do some brainstorming.

    I’m not asking you to support my theme…just my issue with favicons.

    Absolutely no idea. I am not seeing any favicon on your site.

    You don’t see on up in the beside the website name in the browser tab?

    I use Chrome…here’s a screenshot of what I’m seeing.

    No. As I can’t see it, that suggests that there’s an issue with the favicon upload and/or call. As we do not have access to your theme, we do not know how it implements its custom favicon upload etc – which is why you need to speak to your hosts about it.

    I suspect that you are seeing a Starbucks icon because this bug in the theme is causing a problem in your browser and it’s pulling in a favicon from your web cache.

    Same. This is pretty clearly a WordPress issue, not a theme.

    Edit- It may also be a hack. The problem went away when I changed my password.
