• So I tried updating to 2.6, and when all was said and done, the only thing that would load was a blank page. Any ideas on this? Seems like 2.6 is kinda buggy, yes? I ended up rolling back to 2.5.1.

  • Are you sure you uploaded all the files in the wordpress folder? I also got a blank page at first when updating because I only uploaded the wp-admin and wp-include folders and forgot all the other files in the root folder. Try uploading everything again and see if you missed something.

Tried several times. Yes. I uploaded everything. I have a script that rolls it out across our 70-some odd installations on the server farm. I verified it was copying all files correctly.

usually you will upload your files.
go to your config file, and putin the necessary info you had in your previous one like dbname, password and etc.
And THEN run the upgrade and everything will be fine.

Well, our script copies the wp-config.php file and the wp-content directory out to a temporary backup directory, then it tars up the whole domain and puts THAT in the backup, then our script runs rm -rf wp-*, goes and grabs a new copy of WP from wordpress.org, explodes it into a working directory, copies it all into the root of the site, then removes the new wp-content and wp-config.php, gets the old ones from the backup directory via copy and pauses for the user to run the database updater manually. If that’s successful, they checkout the site and make sure it works, come back to the script and tell it to clean up where it deletes the backup files it made and its working directory, moves to the next installation in the range and the process begins again.

The script allows us to update about 70 installations in about an hour with minimum hassle. Handles extension roll outs and updates, too.

I also tried updating that site manually (you know, the way most folks do it) and it produced the same results.
