Support » Plugin: Google Drive for Wordpress » I've got problems too!

  • Hi I have tried this plugin on a single wp install running 3.4 then 3.9 and a MU install running 3.8.3 and had just the same problems.

For one it isn’t so easy to understand the setup from the video until you realise you can use the old interface for the google end of things, then it is relatively straight forward. God knows how you would do it with the new interface….

So I get everything setup, schedule a backup – then realise the default setting is not to backup the database and this setting is buried right a the bottom of the manage database page, so switch it on and try again.

No Matter what I do two things occur – 1) I only get a database backup and no file backup and 2) it doesn’t go automatically to the Googledrive – it goes when I manually move it with the ‘move to googledrive option’ at the very bottom of the page.

    Anyone got any ideas?
This is a great start for a plugin, but the user interface would be much improved by shifting the settings and queue to the top of the database and files pages rather than the bottom where they might not be seen – and a log would be really useful (on one server I can’t switch on wp logging so have no idea what is going on).

Another really useful improvement would be to have the ‘Configure Google’ menu only appear on the root site (or on the Network Admin) on a MU (multisite) installation – I can’t have anyone on client sites being able to reconfigure the system backup settings, and even Adminimize, my trusty fallback for restricting access to interface elements, doesn’t seem to be able to restrict this one – it can’t even see it!

Shame coz it’s got the makings of a hot plugin, but I think I’m gonna have to go back to backwpup… 🙁
