Need help with WooCommerce variable product

My client sells bow ties (which are all variable products) and wants to add children’s sizes. I know I can do this by creating a variable product with 2 variables – tie name and size – but there are a LOT of ties and they change regularly. What I’d like to do is have a form field where the customer can enter the tie name, and also a pull-down for the size (that part is easy). Is there any way to do this that isn’t a major piece of complex programming?
