  • you can use for that “downloadable” product type

I think i’ve not explained myself properly.
The thing is that I need to sell the physical cd and as a gift I will include the same music as a free download.
I’ve created a downloadable product type. Using sandbox paypal, I get the money from the sandbox buyer in the seller sanbox account. Till here everything seems to be ok.
Then I go to Manage Orders, and i set the order status to completed (which i think sents an email to the customer) but nothing is done. I’ve already have a mercury envioment working properly (test1@localhost.com and test2@localhost.com email set up)
The jigoshop email is set up to test1@localhost.com and mercury. Unfortunatelly nothing is sent from that address, neither emailing invoice to client or completing the order.

    Any clues.

You can’t do emails from localhost unless you’ve setup your localhost server to run those through an SMTP server. You’ll need to install and configure WP SMTP.

Email problem is solved. I’ve been able to try the shop on live server and the emails and notificactions are routed properly to customers and admins.

About the main question: “downloadable” product type is the solution for my problem but it brings out another one. This type of product doesn’t have the option to set a shipping price.
What I’m trying to sell is a physical cd. A shipping rate must be set for this kind of product. But I want to offer my customers a download link to the music in mp3 or FLAC format as part of their buy.
Summing up: I need to sell a “simple product” type and a “downloadable product” must be included in the deal.

    Any suggestions?

Would grouped products work in that case for you?

    Hi Optart,

I’ve already tried this but it doesn’t work quite well.
    1. I add a new product “X” which will be the parent.
    2. Then I add two new products: “X physical with an Y price” and “X digital which is free” and grouped them into X.
The result is three products in my shop and people could take the “X digital” for free without paying the “X physical”

Maybe I’m wrong but I think that what I really need it can’t be done with Jigoshop.

    Hi llamaza,
Can’t you make the X digital hidden from catalog and search to allow only purchase from X?

Great idea, but how can i make a product hidden?

http://forum.jigoshop.com/kb/creating-products/product-screen-explained there is “visibility” field when editing product

Ooops, I feel a little embarrassed about this one. It’s cleary on documentation.
Ok, now, nobody can access directly to the downloadable product directly. I’ve added a grouped product which includes the physical (simple) and the digital (downloadable) product.
So customers go to the shop page, use the select button and the grouped product page shows both simple and digital.
Then any customer can choose between phsycial or digital (which is free) and they can download the product without paying.
So next question is: is there any way to make physical a compulsory buy to get the digital one?

Yes – you can do that with free grouped products pro plugin available for download there: https://github.com/chriscct7/Jigoshop-Grouped-Products-Pro

    Hi Optart,

Great plugin, i’m testing it. I do not know if i really love it but it gives a solution for my problem.

    Thanks a lot.

    Good to hear,
let me know in case you’d need anything else.
