Support » Plugin: SendPress Newsletters » Send email with customized link to a list of subscribers

  • I have a directory website and I want to send an email to a list of people with a link to their dedicated (personal) directory listing URL. So the email message is the same except the website link will be for that subscribers personal directory listing. How can I do this?

That’s probably not possible right now because we don’t pull any information from a user profile other than name and email address. We will be releasing custom fields in the coming months and I could see that may be we should make some fields from the user profile available to that.

Could you provide us with a little bit more information about what directory you are using and perhaps a screenshot of an example profile that shows the URL you are talking about?

    Thanks

Thank you so much for responding.

I have included a screenshot of a directory listing page from my website (using Vantage by Appthemes).
The goal is to send out bulk emails with the same message but with the client’s unique URL so when clicked on it takes that person to their directory listing created for them by admin and is available to be claimed by the recipient of the email.

I usually use the “Add Subscribers” field to upload many contacts and thought perhaps there could be provision to also add URL’s against each name. Then when sending emails out there could be an option to also include the URL and place it strategically in the message. I wouldn’t need their URL to be present in every message sent.

This is not an option I would include for front end users as custom field when signing up to subscribe because they may not have a directory listing or even now what a URL is. This function would only be for administrators in the back end.

Can the person’s (or business) name also show at the top of the email message? e.g: Hello Ships Trader

Even though the message is the same, I think personalizing a message will give a greater yield to more sales.

Thank you again for considering this option 🙂

I will take a look at this with the dev team. Seems like something we could do at some point. No promises yet. We will be adding custom fields and it seems like this could be part if that ( at least from my perspective but I’m not a developer).

I did also want to point out that we do offer some personalization options already. Read more here. This will also be enhanced with custom fields.

I took a closer look at this with our Dev team and we all agreed that it looks like this will be covered in our custom fields release.

We do already offer personalization. I have included a link below that has more info about how to use the personalization options.

That is awesome to hear! I look forward to the release. Thank you.

I’m also looking to add custom fields to SendPress. I’d purchase a pro version if I could do this right now.

    Thanks

itdoug, thank you for the link for personalization. I added the *|FNAME|* option but when I tested the email it just displayed *|FNAME|* and not the persons first name. I tried sending a test email while I was viewing “Visual” and one when viewing “Text” with the same results. Using WP 3.9.1

Eddie, we’re working on it I promise. New template system will be out first/soon.

Vickyj, could you Please click the following link for instructions on what info to provide support. Please do not include your domain name since this is a public forum. All I am really interested in is which version of free you are running. I would like to test this to make sure there is not a bug.

If you also have the ability to link to a screenshot of how you have inserted the first name variable, I would like to see what it looks like in your email. If there is no first name associated with a subscriber, it should leave it blank.

The other possibility is that it is only showing up because you were sending a test email. The test email does not necessarily process all short codes. Try creating a subscriber list with a user that has a first name and send a message to that test list and see if the first name shows up in the message.
