How to disable TinyMCE buttons and formats?

    The code I was using in my functions.php to disable some of the formatting buttons in the visual editor doesn’t seem to be working any more in WordPress 3.9. I’d also like to add/remove formats in the dropdown menu. Does anyone have updated code to be able to do this?
