Good afternoon folks. First off thank you for a great plugin. Loving the ease of use and availability of addins and customisations. Sorry if this post is a little long winded but I wanted yo be thorough to help resolve the problem.

I have been toiling over the best way to manage my image galleries and posts, ie. should I have a separate gallery for each post or several larger galleries and then select specific images from an existing gallery when making a new post.

I have been trying to do several main galleries with selected images in a post, however the problem I’m running in to is if I wish to add further images to these galleries, the new pictures are being added to old posts.

The primary focus of my blog is not the pictures, but they help illustrate my discussions. It seemed to make sense to have a handful of topic-based galleries. If I have twenty pics in a gallery and wish to show just five I do the following : –

    1. Insert Nextgen Gallery, thumbnail view.

    2. Select the gallery, then select Exclude All.

    3. I then manually select the images to include.

This works perfectly until I wish to add additional images to the gallery. If I add further images, the post created above will have the selected images plus any new images added since the post was created. The originally excluded images are still excluded.

At the present I only have a dozen or so posts, so it’s easy enough to go back and edit the gallery to display only the originally selected images. Is there a better way to do this without having to create a new gallery for every post?

Unsure if it has an impact on the outcome, however I use Adobe Lightroom 5 to manage my images and a Nextgen plugin to upload the galleries from Lightroom.

Thanks in advance. Blog is here : http://www.demetersrest.com/posts/

@demetersrest – This is an interesting way to use NextGEN Gallery but also not a very commonly reported one. Unfortunately, as is, the fine organization you appear to be trying to achieve does not have a matching functionality in the plugin at this time.

It would be great if you could further share you thoughts and ideas on this as a Feature Request here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

Something to consider though, it may or may not apply, is to create smaller “common” images galleries and then use multiple galleries in your ATP when inserting the images into your posts … it will not exclude images from being added to older posts but may be a different way of approaching how you are organizing the images to be displayed.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
