From the last update of this plugin, I see that sometimes new media appear in the library. They always have the “rp_” prefix, and sometimes the image is created from another which I have in another server, then the “rp_” picture is not visible. That is a problem, because I must delete the strange entries of the media library every day.

WordPress Related Posts didn’t do this in older versions. Is is a bug?

    Hey,

thanks again for reaching out. Our plugin stores images it uses for thumbnails if they are located elsewhere (as in your case). It adds a prefix rp_ so you know it’s a related post thumbnail. Deleting those images won’t help, they’ll reappear every time you delete them. Older versions of WordPress Related Posts did the same (at least the last 4 or 5 ones), only the name of the image added was different.

If you want to get rid of this problem, I suggest you save those images to your Media Library and replace them in posts. You can also set some featured image (or set thumbnail for them via custom field) for these problematic posts…

    Hope this helps,
    Mateja

Thanks, Mateja. I didn’t know that older versions created new media; perhaps the date and time was not the current time and then I didn’t see them. However, thank you, you relaxed me because now I know that I haven’t any malware or bug in my web.

For the record, I find that when I don’t choose a thumbnail for a post, that’s the only time this plugin creates an entry in media library. Otherwise, for me at least, no extra media appears.

The “rp_” duplicates seem to be made of the first image of the post when there is no featured graphic, even though that image is in the same media library. Why is this duplication necessary when the original image is right there in the same library?
