custom post order correct in plugin, but not in front end

This plugin just stopped reordering posts in front end. It has been working correctly for 8 mos. not sure if it was the wp and plugin updates, or something the new ‘events volunteer’ has done.
Client wants posts to be order by Date of event (in post title). with the earliest first. (I think this is ascending.)
It works perfectly on the sandbox site running 3.8.1
how do i troubleshoot this?
Reorder in backend is good, posts don’t reorder in front end. url is https://rvsingles.org/category/all_events/circuits/nwa/
but running correctly in the sandbox site at http://www.elurie.com/sandbox/08/category/all_events/circuits/nwa/

Also, i am unclear on what autosort means. what are the parameters for autosort?
