WordPress editing and webpage loading very slow!

    WordPress moves extremely slow. Whether it’s editing as admin (posting, updating, editing etc.), or loading my site in the browser. What is the issue?
    My site is new and I’m in the editing process (just fooling around with themes/content) and it’s taking so much time just to edit and load.

    I’ve already ruled out plugins fyi.

    Theme: Custom Community (may change it, especially if that’s the problem)

    Can you give more info?:

    What version of WP are you using? (You may notice that the support forums are very busy today because many people are having issues with the upgrade to 3.9)

    You said you ruled out plugins, but have you tried temporarily activating TwentyThirteen as your theme to rule out theme issues?

    You said the site is new– has it always been slow? If not, what have you added (plugins, themes, settings) around the time you noticed the slowness?

    Have you analyzed the page load with this resource: https://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/? If so, giving more info here might help.

    Hi Bet!

    My WP version is the new one 3.9.
    I’ve only rule out plugins, I haven’t ruled out themes. I’ve only been working on the site for 3 days… it’s always been slow, even before the update, which I did earlier today.

    I’m guessing it’s my theme with a combination of the new update. I’ll just try and rule that out. I will always try Yslow as you suggested.

    I contacted my host provider and they said my site loads just fine for them, that could also mean it’s my system, which makes no sense because other pages load just fine.

    Not all hosts offer great speed. Try googling your hosting company and WordPress, to see if others have complained about slow sites. For instance, GoDaddy customers routinely complain about slowness for WP sites.
