The plugin presentation text says the pictures can be everywhere, even on a remote server. However, it wont work for me when I have the pictures on a remote server.
Ive imported a blog from blogger, and the pictures are still at blogger.
However, the post thumb plugin doesn't generate thumbs for them.
Any idea why?

I also would like to grab images from my photoblog, and put thumbnails in my main blog's sidebar.
I've installed post-thumb on my main blog, and set my photoblog's URL as the site in the post-thumb settings, but it still pulls pictures from the main site.

It depends on your server configuration and the host that you are trying to retrieve from - images are retrieved using different methods (I think curl, maybe something else).
I can get around a 75% success rate for images on other server (I use it for an aggregator that has 250 sources. The blogger one's don't seem to work. My guess is it might be some kind of hotlinking protection at blogger but I haven't looked into it yet.
