Why is the bookmarklet for IE not functioning ?
I get a error: external.menuArguments.document id empty or no object.
anybody else has the same ? or better anybody who has it working.

Nope, we've got problems too using IE.

Which, of course, doesn't meant that it shouldn't be supported :P
Oy, too many negatives in that sentence.

    Anti,
Of course you are 100% correct...something like 80% or more of the desktops on the planet are using IE. One issue with some bookmarklets as well, is that one version of IE may support it while another may not. Why can't they all just get along? :)

I tried the Press It version in IE 6 and had no issues...
Maybe we could get some more details about which browser versions are having trouble?

I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 (all updates in place)
It's actually Avant Browser I'm running, but essentially this is an IE skin with better functionality.
Tbh, I've tried all the other browsers, but this one does the job I need. I know others are better, but when it comes down to it, this is my pref. I have friends who swear by others (none by Opera oddly enough) but there you go.
If you wanted to throw code at me to try it out, I'll happily help.

I just tried 'Press-It' again, and got this in the address bar with 'Done' in the status bar, and a blank screen.
    javascript:Q='';if(top.frames.length==0)Q=document.selection.createRange().text;void(btw=window.open('http://www.tamba2.org.uk/T2/wp-admin/bookmarklet.php?text='+escape(Q)+'&popupurl='+escape(location.href)+'&popuptitle='+escape(document.title),'bookmarklet','scrollbars=yes,width=600,height=420,left=100,top=150,status=yes'));btw.focus();
I'm pretty sure it's the same result as I posted in the above mentioned thread.

podz: If you have the popup blocker turned on in Avant, it will prevent the press-it from working correctly. Just something to keep in mind :)

Just to be sure - you are all dragging the bookmarklet to your bookmarks bar and using it from there, right?
Does it work? No? If not, what WP and IE versions?
Is there a silent majority of working bookmarklet users out there?

With Avant (IE shell) 8.02 build 210 it works for me as long as I have the popup blocker turned off. But you can't drag the link to the bookmarks bar in Avant because it doesn't have that functionality (so you have to right-click the link, choose Add to favourites, and put it in the Links folder).

Incidentally, the Anonymous above was me :)

    Okay ...... oops.
Using IE, if I drag it to the links bar, it does work.
Using Avant, it does not. I get exactly the result I described above.
I'll chuck it into their forums again.

For right click in IE problem with the bookmarklet, please refer to the following thread. I have posted a solution there.

As a followup, I queried this in the Avant forums.
Using Avant, add the 'Press-it' to favourites, but, in Avant Options, you need to not open favourites in a new window, and must not block popups.
    Then it will work.
Not the most elegant of solutions, but there you go :)
