• Ever since upgrading to the newest version 2.5.x the wordpress has been SLOW.. (at least 1-2 minutes to load)..

    Host is Redhat and has php 4 and 5 running..

    I tried this from a search in my htaccess

    AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php
    AddHandler x-httpd-php .php4

    This made the pages load instantly.. BUT any links or things you click on bring up the open with box.. I tried numerous variations of the above codes, but no luck.. does anyone have the correct codes I should be putting in to get the wordpress working faster?

    Thanks!

  • have you discovered any answers? I have such scary load times, I’m frantic and also cannot figure out how to use a page loading icon with WP.

    Hi, i had a similar problem,

    I put….

    // Enable WP Object Cache:
    define(ENABLE_CACHE, true);

    in my wp-config.php

    reset your browser and bobs your uncle….
    worked for me anyway!

    Hi,

    Jason is my husband and he tried the code you suggested Chris and it unfortunately didn’t help. I sure hope someone else might have some more ideas to try or that the WP admins will work on a update to address this issue! I’ve been using wordpress for a couple years and I’d hate to have to switch to different software, but it’s gotten to the point that people don’t want to come to my blog anymore since it’s so slow 🙁

    Rachel

    yes, it’s a nightmare of slowness!
