I understand all the good parts of a responsive theme, but my clients just don’t want to have this function, so I’d like to remove the responsive function completely. Instead of fit ting to the size of the browser, I would like to have the site just shrink when the size of the browser changes.

Thank you so much and hope somebody could help!

use a different theme? Honestly all the responsive stuff? it’s free. you get the exact same website, on different devices at NO ADDITIONAL COST, AND it’s still _readable_ on those devices.

Your client is still stuck in a ‘design things once for print and shrink it to fit’ mentality that does nothing except make your site unreadable on mobile devices, and cause your readers to have to pinch and zoom all over the place to read a portion of your site at a time like a guy with a magnifying glass looking at [insert overly large highly detailed thing here]

Publishing on the web has moved on from its print origins. your client also needs to do so. Conversely you could get another client that won’t make your efforts to do web design look silly to everyone else.

I speak in this tone not to ridicule you, but to point out to you the ridiculousness of the situation you have found yourself in. I wish you the best of luck, whatever your decision.
