Looking for the docs on this but need to know if a forum can be made private and invisible to users without permissions?

Assuming so do widgets such as recent forum posts hide entries from forums which the user does not have permissions to view?

    Thanks.

I have read through the Admin guide – http://www.wpsymposium.com/admin-guide/ – and can find no reference to my questions.

Could you please either provide a url to the relevant documentation or answer it for me?

    Many thanks for your support.

Go to your admin page under WPS the is options / forum that is where you set over all setting for all forums. Now in the Manage section is Categories. you set access to each forum by Riles there.

Now its all up to you. Have a good day.

    To early, corrected: 🙂

OK – these are simple pre-sales questions. Before asking them I checked your documentation and registered with your site but I cannot find any relevant information or access support forums unless I pay you.

Thanks for the answer above – but I’ve already been there.

WP Symposium Options / fORUMS / View forum roles is set to Admin only.

When I go to forums as a non logged in user I get the “Sorry, but you are not permitted to view the forum.” message (a login page would probably be friendlier but what the hey).

HOWEVER – as a non logged in user with no access to forums I still see the content of recent forum posts in widgets – sure I can’t link through to the posts but I can read the summaries which is not great when a forum is supposed to be private.

So – as there is no documentation or other information available to me before I buy – do you think you could please answer this simple yes or no question for me?

Is there any way to prevent non logged in users without permission to view forums from seeing the Recent Forums Post widget or its content?

    Thanks.

Cool! And you need to take those questions to the author’s site. 😉

As the author knows already these forums are not for supporting commercial products and that included pre-sales questions.

I am sure the conversation can continue there (nice looking site too).

Thanks Jan Dembowski, we have no idea if they are pre-sales unless they tell us so.

I would rather answer all question on our Home site. 🙂

Yes, I know. That’s why I replied with the links like that. 😉

There’s nothing wrong with the questions or your reply at all I’m just trying to direct M One to the best place. Also yours is a neat looking site.

OK guys – thanks for the input and the links and apologies for the inappropriate pre-sales posts.

I will seek enlightenment on the author’s site.
