This plugin gives the impression of security, but shortly after installing it on two web sites, those web sites were hacked – hackers placed a big banner all across my sites saying I’d been hacked. This plugin DID NOTHING to protect our sites from a brute force entry – even though I got “green” on every bit of their “list”.

Now, after updating the plugin from Better WP Security to iThemes Security, I get this error message and no access to admin:
“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/username/public_html/wp-admin/includes/deprecated.php on line 529”

The only way to regain access to admin is to delete the plugin folder using ftp client. I’m probably better off without this plugin anyway.

    Hi jgbennette,

Sorry to hear about the frustration you’ve experienced with the plugin, the last thing that we wanted to do is cause any problems for you.

We’ve been working on the bugs as soon as they come in through our reporting form and have released updates as we come across the fixes for them. We appreciate you working with us and being patient as we try to iron out the bugs in the plugin.

As of today (9Apr14) we are on version 4.0.19 which addresses most if not all of the major bugs that users have been experiencing. Please update to that version and that should resolve any issues you were experiencing. If by chance it doesn’t correct the issue please feel free to fill out out form (iThemes Security Bugs) with as much detail as possible so that we can isolate and fix the issue that you are having.

    Thanks- R.S.

4.0.19 was the version i upgraded to today, so it still is not fixed — and then had to spend almost 2 hours figuring out how to get my dashboard back. WP 3.8.2.
