Did you create the theme yourself?
If you did, you need to modify the comment form.
You need to change the method to ‘POST’ and the action to ‘/beta/wp/wp-comments-post.php’.
Hi,
I’m having a problem with this issue and I can’t find anything here about it. I altered the Kubrick theme, so haven’t changed the form action.
I’m using Permalinks and my .htaccess is chmod 644. Permalink structure is working fine for the site, so I don’t think it’s the problem. I have : /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
Comments are posting, it’s just that a 404 Error appears first, then if you go back to the Post, you can see that the new comment is there. Does anyone know what else could cause a 404 when submitting commments?
Thanks~
Anyone solve malawimama problem… the same is happening with me and wp 2.7.1
My reply…
Re-installed 2.7.1 / simple uploaded all files from install archive.
Now is all ok…verrrry strange..
So is complete re-install of all 2.7.1 files the fix?
Did everyone elese here use the automatic upgrade wp plugin? I did. Just curious if that caused the issue.

I’ve recently been working on transferring a Joomla! site over to WordPress, creating a template for the site by modifying the default WP theme.
All’s gone well, except for when a user attempts to post a comment on a post the submit button appears to create a 404 error? Nothing appears for moderation, and there’s no sign the comment’s been submitted anywhere.
I’ve checked that the wp-comments-post.php is linked correctly, and that the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” isn’t checked, but still I can’t get around the 404.
Feel free to give it a try, http://www.sixonline.org.uk/beta – anyone got any ideas?
Thankyoo
