It seems the featured content tag is being ignored, instead posts are pulled in to the max numer of posts I have specified (default 6, tested by reducing to 3). The featured tag is also displayed “in the frontend”, even though this is disabled in the options.

Downloaded the plugin today, so this is latest version.

Edit: Happens both in slider and non-slider mode.

Follow-up: it seems that a workaround is editing the featured tag, then resetting it to the original value. Also, I have not noticed this on a blog which does not use twentyfourteen extended, but just the base theme, though of course this doesn’t necessarily meean the bug is in the plugin.

I have same problem. Workaround doesn’t seem to fix it.

When I first turned on Featured Content, with the checkbox ticked ‘Don’t display tag on front end’, no featured content appeared on front page.

Unchecked the box, and it does appear. But now I can’t get it to go away on the front page, short of deleting the tag altogether from the posts. Ticking or unticking the checkbox now makes no difference, either in preview in Customize, or after saving change and reloading the front page.

Seems like a bug to me.

PS. I’m also using latest version 1.2.31

@johnwmcc – could you please open a separate thread for your issue and provide the following information..

Unchecked the box, and it does appear. But now I can’t get it to go away on the front page, short of deleting the tag altogether from the posts.

Would that be the Tag or the Featured content section?

Ticking or unticking the checkbox now makes no difference, either in preview in Customize, or after saving change and reloading the front page.

Assuming you mean the ‘Don’t display tag on front end’ then this only controls the Tag output in the tag cloud or under the post in the blog feed if the options to show Featured content in blog feed is selected. Or are we talking about a different checkbox?

Please provide a link to the site as a closer inspection of the site’s source code usually helps debug the issue.

@bartmoss – the plugin sets its own transient for the Featured content and installing/activating switches the control from the theme over to the plugin and it is sometimes necessary to flush the transient. Therefore the action take is the correct and advised procedure.

So frustrated! I am following a lynda.com wordpress tutorial and simply trying to make sure the tag does not show when I am showing featured content at the top of my site. I check “Don’t display tag on front end” from the customizer under “FEATURED CONTENT” AND IT IS STILL THERE NO MATTER WHAT I DO. Such a simple thing!!!! Why isn’t this working? I have changed the tag name and changed it back again as suggested in this forum – nothing works.

So now I see why this is so confusing – it has nothing to do with hiding the “tag” text on the featured content, thereby just showing the title of the post – it has to do with showing the CONTENT of the blog at the bottom? Terrible user interface, sorry – whoever came up with this is very unclear. It should say “hide blog links tagged with this tag.” And, by the way, the blog choices are still showing up at the bottom of the page! I don’t see any change. How could this theme have been released with this bug?
