Hello there!

Is there any way to create a welcome message for new users? E.G. Once a user registers, a post is created in the category “Users” that says:

Welcome (Username) to our site!

We are extremely happy to have you here! etc etc etc.

Hi there, its a great idea, but I don’t know of a way to do that yet.
However a plugin you may be interested in is this one.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/new-user-email-set-up/installation/
It allows you to personalise the email that goes out when someone registers, a nice touch i think.

Hmmm,

A good workaround would be plugging a BCC pointing towards the Auto Update email address built into the wordpress background. Interesting concept.
