Uploading New Theme: Parent Directory Not Writable?

    I am trying to upload a new theme for a client’s website. They asked me to do all of the editing via the WordPress dashboard, so I went to Appearance > Themes > Install and selected the appropriate .zip file. But every time I try to upload it, I get this error:

    Unable to create directory D:\IT_CONTENT\StaticSites\mysite/wp-content/uploads/2014/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    Is there any way to fix this without using FTP? I don’t have the FTP information for this site. I could probably get it, but I’d rather just fix this now rather than wait, if I can. Is this possible?
