Do settings override Private Groups?

Hello, I have a question concerning the general use of this plugin. If I enable it on my forums, and I want open groups to be allowed to have their activity go into feeds, but I want private groups to remain private, if I set the default to everyone for groups and someone chooses everyone when they post in a private group, will their post in the private forum be visible to everyone in activity and not be private?

In other words, do the settings override BuddyPress default settings for their groups?
