Not sure what you mean exactly.
You have a post called “Zebra Crossing” but also an image with the same name, that is included in the post?

Yes, added as the extension to the same post where it shows only image.
If you attached an image called Zebra Crossing to a post, then the URL for the image you upload should be something like http://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Zebra-Crossing.jpg
Although, the actual permalink for the media object would be http://www.example.com/zebra-crossing/zebra-crossing-2
The reason why it says “zebra-crossing” twice is because the first one refers to the post title, the second one refers to the image title. Obviously, you can’t have two elements (one a post, the other an image) with the same URL.

I’m not sure if you can — it’s a way to refer to that image on a page (instead of being standalone). Why do you want to get rid of it? It’s not being shown on the site anywhere (or at least, it shouldn’t).

But that post is getting indexed in google creating duplicate content.
Is it? I’d say it’s not — unless you specifically link to it on your site. I mean, how would Google know about this URL unless something is pointing Google to it, so to speak?

Hmm right, I recently changed some settings in all in seo plugin sitemaps where all these image posts where included in the sitemaps. Later I made the changes and now none of these posts are in sitemaps
I believe that change caused them to get indexed in google? What is your thought on this?
Usually, those URLs should not be included in sitemaps. Perhaps you had a setting where you specifically set it in such a way they would be included.
But, if they’re not there anymore, I wouldn’t worry much about it.
