Classes to Columns

This plugin is just what my client needs however, due to the many columns of data, I need to be able to freeze the first column, the way you can in excel, so that it stays put when scrolling horizontally. I am able to do this if I can somehow target just that first column in the table as a whole not each cell individually.

Is there a way I can apply a universal class or id to all the cells within the first column? For example all rows in column 1 will have an id of “column1”, the next could be “column2” etc.
