Unclear as to adding multiple addresses

Documentation is pretty unclear on how to add multiple addresses, exactly. I get that if you create a custom field, it’ll show as a dropdown option – but what do I need to make the custom fields? How do you create multiple addresses and have them show on the map? Can you elaborate on this just a little, please?
