Sorry but it is difficult to understand what you are talking about without more info – maybe a link to the page ?

what are “those brackets” ?

It sounds like maybe you have some unbalanced html ?

widget_class=none doesn’t change the title. The title will still be there. The styling of the title may change however depending on what your theme does.

The ::before is not really there (do view source and you’ll see)
