Font-Awesome Implementation Disrupting Theme
-
Hi there,
The font-awesome implementation in the new version of NextGen Gallery is disrupting my theme (Valenti). If you view http://terrain.org, there should be a search icon to the right of the primary horizontal navigation, but according to the theme developer the local font-awesome file installed by this plugin is overriding that:
<link rel=”stylesheet” id=”fontawesome-css” href=”http://terrain.org/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_gallery_display/static/fontawesome/font-awesome.css?ver=3.8.1″ type=”text/css” media=”all”>
How can I remove that safely and still use NextGen, or should I go back to the previous version of NextGen?
Thanks,
Simmons

@simmons – The Valenti theme uses an older version of FontAwesome than what we have included, have you considered asking your theme author to update their theme to use a more current version?
Aside from that, how is the NextGEN Gallery version of FontAwesome disrupting your site?
Thanks!

Thanks — I’ve forwarded your note onto the developer so hopefully he can update the theme accordingly.
I haven’t seen any other problems — just the search icon is missing (the search still works though).
Best,
Simmons
@simmons – Thanks for the update, please let us know if the theme author is unable to assist with this issue.
It may even be worth while to submit a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) if that is the case as well.
Thanks!

He was able to help me with a css workaround while he updates the theme to use the latest font-awesome, which will take some time since it is, apparently, quite a significant update.
So we’re all good, thanks!

@simmons – Thanks for the update … and best of luck with the theme going forward. I hope the update is not as time-consuming as it currently sounds.
