• For some reason wordpress is converting a good mailto link like this:
    <a href="mailto:jennifer.churchill@state.co.us">jennifer.churchill@state.co.us</a>

    into a link like this:

    <a href="http://www.mywebsite.com/%category%/mailto:jennifer.churchill@state.co.us" >jennifer.churchill@state.co.us</a>

But it is only doing this in my posts. Can anyone give me a reason why wordpress would be doing this?

    Thanks

Does anyone ever provide any help in here anymore? This issue is 4 months old and all our email links with mailto: are still converting to URLs and it is annoying to say the least.

Google has also lowered our pagerank as we have several THOUSAND emails links to state agencies that are now converting into URLS which of course are going to our 404 page because its an invalid link.

Can someone PLEASE HELP us resolve this issue before we are penalized even further by google?

    Thanks

Publishing people’s emails just gets them spammed because spam bots harvest email addresses from websites. Someone once did this to me and I now get unbelievable amounts of spam.

Instead, look for a WordPress plugin that lets you encrypt email addresses or just spell out the email addresses (non-linked) like you’ve probably seen on other sites.

That’s all all fine and dandy, however, the problem still exists in my site, as I have now added the cyrptx plugin, which does encode the visual text to someemail[at]thisaddress[dot]com, however, on the code side, the mailto: link is still being converted into the

    <a href="http://www.mywebsite.com/%category%/mailto:jennifer.churchill@state.co.us" >jennifer.churchill@state.co.us</a>

Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help me resolve this issue. I have no clue why wordpress is doing this and it happened shortly after I upgraded to version 2.5.1 and it has continued to do this through 2.6.3.

I am desperate for an resolution as our pagerank continues to be penalized because of the dead links in our pages.

    Thanks a million in advance!!
