From a quick look, it seems that the file 'show-refs-search' has the php loop that you need, and that if you placed that on your page, and set the correct location for the file it is reading from, it will output to the page on which it is written.
You'll need to modify the file the $maxref, but otherwise I see no reason why it shouldn't work like that.
The formatting on your page will be affected by the script output, but I guess that's just trial and error.
