Ok, got it working – sort of.

In the past, I’ve always used the short code with your plugin. The short code is no longer working at all for me with the last update to the plugin.

However, it does work if I just paste the URL of the video into the page.

Why don’t you tell what exact shortcode you where using? You should also give me a link to a page where its actually NOT working so I can check it out.

I include two links on main plugin page and on the FAQs to my instructions how to report a issuee and people refuse to read it. I think that should be a no-brainer even for no technical people that I need some information to be able to help. But seem its not, so I created the instructions and now nobody reads them …

So lets play the guessing game again:

“Sorry, there was a problem loading this video” is a message that comes from vimeo not from this plugin. Maybe that video was just down for some time? Maybe you just used the wrong id. It does not matter if you quotation marks or not it should work either way. And it does on my site. I took that exact video from your site and it works with the [vimeo id="83800709"] shortcode.

Thank you for the plugin and your quick response!

Sorry, but I can not leave the “broken” videos on a live site. I normally create my own themes. This particular theme was not created by me, someone altered the theme and stylesheet and the only thing I can find is that it is one of the themes from these guys – http://goodlayers.com. I was just troubleshooting an error for someone.

If the plugin is working fine for you, then I can only assume it’s theme related.

If I enter either of these short codes on that site I get the vimeo error message. Same for any youtube short code. But pasting the URL works fine.

    [vimeo id=”83800709″]
    [vimeo id=83800709]

I see they have an external short code plugin installed and activated, maybe there is a conflict with it. Thanks for your time.

Same for youtube, but the embed is loading just with a error? Now I a curious and really want to help you.

    Cant help without live examples.

You can create a temporary testing page for situations like this, just recreate the issue there give me the link no need to leave broken videos on pages people are actually visiting.

Please read the instructions how to report a issue. You can easy find out if its because of the theme by simply switching it to a wordpress default theme shortly. (I doubt it, more likely because of another plugin). And it may also be a actual bug in ARVE. The new [arve_test] shortcode might also reveal something.

Here’s a page with the short codes added:

Well definitely some weird stuff going on there. And its a conflict with the theme or a plugin. Fidvids is included what is not needed and may cause conflicts. But there is another plugin active that is generating the shortcodes its not ARvE.

Both embeds are not generated by this plugin, they have other wrapper classes … and they for some reason strip out the id of the videos.

But as the instructions say. You are supposed to identify the conflict on your own my deactivating all plugins and switching to a defaut theme. My guess is that you still have not done this but that.

Fidvids may be part of the theme and should be removed but it not removes ids of videos URLs neither does it generate shortcodes, looks like the main problem is generated by something else.
