    Hi @azmanar,

    Thank you for your question.

The Membership plugin doesn’t have the function to add more Custom Fields in WP User Registration but it’s much flexible and uses default WordPress registration so you can add Custom Fields to it easily.

You can use any of the following plugins or custom code described in the tutorials to add Custom Fields to registration form.

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/cimy-user-extra-fields/
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/pie-register/

Just adding to that, you can also use BuddyPress, which includes features for custom user fields (x-profile fields).

“Required fields” made using that will show during Membership registration.

    Hope that helps. 🙂

Hi Dev guy ( without signature ) and David,

Thank you for answering my question and at the same time giving me a list of possible solutions.

You guys scored very high on the Awesomeness-O-Meter.

    Thank you.

Hiya @azmanar, aw shucks, we’re just happy to help! But we do love a good Awesomeness-O-Meter score! 🙂

    Cheers!

Glad I found this post,, but I am a little confused. I’ve tried the Cimy plugin,, works fine at wp-login.php?action=register,,, but it doesn’t seem to incorporate the extra fields into the Membership Plugin page I’ve designated for registration (with or without the submissionform shortcode).
So if I want to have the extra fields, should I not use the Membership plugin registration page and make my potential site members go to wp-login.php?action=register???
If yes, is there no way to add the extra fields to the Membership plugin subscriptionform using my functions.php app?
    Cheers, Kevin Logan

Hi @klogan2, sorry if there was any confusion about that. To use fields from Cimy plugin, you would need to add them into the Membership registration/subscription form. Membership doesn’t pick them up on its own.

However, BuddyPress provides very similar features and is fully integrated with the registration. X-profile fields you create with it (through Users > User Profile Fields) will show in the registration if they’re marked as necessary.

    Would that work for you?

    Thanks David,
Will have a look at BuddyPress,,,I am working on a method, a bit convulted admittedly, to make the Cimy form work in the Membership registration process,,, but it’s proving challenging 🙂
That said, I will def have a look at BuddyPress.
    Cheers

    Hi @klogan2,

Thanks for your reply. Hope you find that as simply as I have, but let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

We’ll be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David,
Except for 1 little issue, your advice to use BuddyPress has worked out very well,,, thanks for the advice

Hi @klogan2, really glad to hear that worked out so well for the most part. Could I ask what the 1 issue was?

Just wondering if there might be a viable solution. 🙂

    Cheers,
    David

Hey David,, would LOVE to hear a solution,, basic problem, in the registration form, the extended profile field (i.e. not user/email/password) don’t show error messages when the fields are ‘required’ AND left blank,,, get what I mean???
My post in the BP forum:
    buddypress.org/support/topic/registration-form-with-extended-fields-required-fields-left-blank-issue/#post-181985
    Cheers again,,for asking!!!
    Kevin Logan
PS: Forgot to mention, that as you well know,, this is ALL a BP issue,,, nothing to do with the Membership app,,,just saying 🙂

    Hi @klogan2,

I think the patch posted on the following ticket helped you to resolve this issue.

Please advise if you have more questions.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
Yes, I applied the patch and it works perfectly,,, the BP team say they will incorporate the patch in their next update of BP.
    Thanks again,
    Kevin

    Hi @klogan2,

Thanks for updating us on that and thanks too for having posted it! Helps us all, actually. 🙂

    Cheers!
