Hi there, why not try this plugin.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
It makes adding your meta tags very easy.
    Hope it helps.
    Mike.

Hi David, once you've uploaded it to your plugin directory and activated it.It will show on your admin page.
I just took a look at it and all of the areas that tou can fill in have help available.
As you work your way down the list the different sectins are all highlighted in blue and by clicking on them you are given help with the details you need to enter.
    Good luck with it.
    Mike.

    Mikey,

I'm not sure I know what a plugin is. The seo plugin is definitely installed and active.

Does the plugin need to be 'launched' from the admin page?

I have now found some help text on a CODEX which talks about assigning a custom field to a post so that a post is created with a custom field which is the meta-data.
    (see link http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Custom_Fields)

The instructions I'm reading don't appear to be what I'm looking for.

My question is: Is this help text about the codex 'the plugin', or is a plugin a screen, dialog to be populated or and executable of some type?

As you can see, I'm starting from ground 0. Thanks.

Hi there, if you've uploaded and activated the plugin, go to your main admin page and click on settings. you should now have a link which says
all in one seo, click on this and you are into the plugin control page.
with each section it says click on option titles to get help, and it tells you what needs to be entered. You shouldn't have a problem and thats all there is to it. good luck. I'll check back later to see how you're going.

(Don't worry about starting from ground zero, we've all had to do it.)

    Mikey,

You are the bomb! The settings ---> all in 1 seo was what I was missing. I sort of figured there was something to lunch.

Thanks a million. I'll let you know how it goes!

    Thanks, Mikey.

I changed the tags, but the bottom of the screen has a button that says 'update options'.

I pressed it and nothing much happened. No confirmation of changes, no other options presented. I really doubt it saved my changes but there isn't a change button. Just 'update options' which does not result in any confirmation of any type that I can see.....

    Thanks!

    Mikey,

I answered my own question. at the bottom of the page, 'update' is a verb, not a noun.

    Thanks!

Hi there, your updates were saved, nothing to worry aout.
I just checked your page. If you right click on your page and scroll down to source. A\page willl come up of your pages code.
    You'll see.
<!-- all in one seo pack
    <meta name="keywords
And your new keywords are listed.
It all seems to be set up fine. Glad you got there.

    Success!!!
Thanks Mikey. You saved me hours and hours of frustration.

I even saw myself at the top of google this morning (it's not a competitive topic (ethanol ethics)).

However, I was astonished the spider noticed the chage that quickly. Do you know if the 'all in one SEO' automatically submitted me last night? I was amazed to see results so soon.

    Thanks again!

Hi david, glad it worked, and yes the search engine spiders can pick up on any changes very quickly.
That plugin certainly takes a lot of the hard work away of setting things like that up.
Good luck with the site, looks an interesting subject.
    Mike.
