Just to be clear that I understand what you are trying to do, you want the content area white instead of transparent so you can set the body to a picture.
Try adding this to your custom CSS:
section.container {
background: #fff;
}

thank you. i was trying to change margin-top from 0px to 1px in css stylesheet. when i pressed preview button i could see the difference but when i pressed save stylesheet it was back to 0px on the main page.
sorry for being a pain, but how can i create a space/margin on the top of the blog?
