Hosting Service Backups

I’m just getting into the multisite setup. So far it’s been a headache, but the fog is beginning to clear.

I’m considering the issue of maintaining backups. I’ve used the free version of UpdraftPlus which seems great, so I’m considering the paid version.

I wonder where the regular backups, which I pay my hosting service for, fit into the picture. If I only want to reinstall an earlier version of a site, or part of a site, do I need anything else?

If I want to migrate an individual site into, or out of, a multisite setup I can see I will need something a little more sophisticated. However what are the chances of the host crashing and burning?

If an asteroid hits the earth, getting my sites up and running again is probably going to be low on my to-do list.
