Your service seems to be advertising supported as it is randomly inserting adverts into my pages. You didn’t clearly explain this when I signed up, and the only mention that I can find to your service being advertising supported appears buried in the liability section of your terms of use.

    ANY RELIANCE PLACED BY YOU ON THE COMPLETENESS, ACCURACY OR EXISTENCE OF ANY ADVERTISING, OR AS A RESULT OF ANY RELATIONSHIP OR TRANSACTION BETWEEN YOU AND ANY ADVERTISER OR SPONSOR WHOSE ADVERTISING APPEARS ON THE SERVICES;

I’ve deactivated sweatcaptcha for now, but firstly, can I say that I don’t think you should insert adverts without clearly making the blog owner fully aware that your plugin is supported by advertising.

Secondly you should offer a paid alternative where blog owners can pay to remove the advertising.

I am really disappointed as other than the advertising I think your plugin is really good, and would love to use it. But cannot use it when it is displaying advertising.

That will leave a mark and really is not permitted without getting consent from the plugin user first.

*Installs plugin on test install, starts looking*

First thing I do not approve of is the mandatory collection of an email address to get to the settings page.

Second thing? That inserted advertistment is Just Not Cool™ and isn’t allowed without asking the user first. It has to default to OFF.

Hopefully the author will reply. I’m reporting this plugin to the plugins [at] wordpress.org email (which is where all such plugins issues should be reported BTW).

I agree wholeheartedly but I cannot find anything in the plugin itself that directly refers to any advertising. As such, it still complies with the WPORG plugin submission guidelines. My guess is that the adverts are inserted by the service itself at sweetcapthca.com. The plugin merely acts as a connection to this 3rd party service.

Have you tried contacting the developers via support@sweetcaptcha.com

Thanks a lot for the feedback, and sorry for the inconvenience, we had a pilot with Google Ads platform
but it wasnt meant to be in production only in the “lab” environment.
sweetCaptcha is Ads-free service and currently our business model is based on the Premium products
(you can check your sweetCaptcha account for more information)

We will be glad to see you back as an active user and if you have any issues – please update us.

I meant to mark this as resolved in my last post

    As sweetCaptcha replied:

    sweetCaptcha is Ads-free service

    Which I except.

    Hi everyone,

Earlier today a test pilot from our lab environment has found it’s way to some of our end users unintentionally. We’ve remedied the production environment instantly and no ads should now appear in any of sweetCaptcha’s widgets.

We’re very proud in saying that sweetCaptcha is and will remain an ads-free service,
and we’re sorry for the temporary inconvenience that may have been caused to some of our users. We’re happy to keep providing sweetCaptcha’s SPAM protection free of charge!

At this occasion you may like to check out your new account page for additional statistics, settings and upgrade options, on https://sweetcaptcha.com/accounts/signin

    Have a sweet day!
    Josh
