Post by Mail – one serious problem with formatting

    It was a fairly lengthy setup and debug process…

    What’s lacking in the Post by Mail is to NOT CHANGE the formatting of the email. or, alternatively provide an option to transfer as plain text.

    In our situation case, we need to automate posting of videos via youtube. The Youtube plugin requires plain text (not hyperlink). So, we send plain text to the generated email address – but, the Jetpack system (maybe underlying wordpress email system) is adding hyperlinks.

    The post by mail feature works pretty well in many respects, but is missing most of the features provided by other tools (though the others require email fetching).

    Maybe they’ll fix this and we’ll come back.

    I encourage you to submit an enhancement request asking for a plain text mode, here:

    Detail why you need it, and we’ll see if others agree. Feel free to suggest other enhancements as well (in new enhancement requests, please).

    However, in my tests, I was able to send a plain youtube link to my site and have the video show up without issue. You mention that you use a “Youtube plugin”. Which one? Because, as detailed here, you no longer need to use a plugin to embed Youtube videos in a WordPress site:

    So I was unable to reproduce what you describe. Could you give me a little bit more detail about your setup?
