• Hi Guys,

Since updating one of my sites to wordpress 3.8.1 I have not been able to edit 90% of my pages through the WYSIWYG editor. I cannot seem to find a pattern in what type of page content is causing this.

I understand that there are quite a few similar threads on this subject so I will document the steps I have taken so far based on this research:

    – Manually updated the theme using git deployment.
    – Removed old wp-admin and wp-includes folders prior to this.
    – Deactivated plugins one by one trying to find an offending plugin.
    – Activated the default theme to rule out any theme specific issues.

It should all be noted that there are no errors in my console only a couple of warning which are visible in chrome but not firefox.

Could you please advise me as to what steps I should take next?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mark

  • I was just searching for a solution to this issue, as I was having the same problem. I had just installed Advanced SystemCare to help keep my computer as clean as possible. One of the extensions it added to Chrome was “Surfing Protection”. Once I disabled this, the visual editor was back to working just fine. I happened across this solution, as my Google Ads weren’t displaying. I then realized that I had an ad blocker extension loaded as well. So, check your browser extensions and ad-ons…therein might lie the culprit. Hope it helps!
