Are you referring to the RSS feed?
Hi, I’m referring to this page
http://planet.wordpress.org
where huge images sometimes cover the whole right sidebar
Are you referring to an RSS feed? I cannot see any obvious issues on that page.

Esmi, I think you’re not seeing an issue because your screen size is larger
My default browser window is only around 1080px wide.

yeah one of the images causes a horizontal scrollbar at small widths
Here’s one example:

Now there’s one image on the Planet page that’s 1309 px wide 😉
<img src="http://wptavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/new-buttons.png"
alt="new-buttons" width="1309" height="217" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-17733">
@esmi, do these images scale down in your browser?
I chuckled yesterday as the featured image in the Hexa post almost redesigned the Planet WordPress site single-handedly. What the Planet needs is a redesign from the ground up. Definitely need to limit image sizes. By default, it displays the full image size which is impractical.
A redesign may well be on the ToDo list but bear in mind that it’s a very long list with very limited resources.
I know first hand that the Planet is at the bottom of the list in terms of priorities. Has been for a long time.
Or perhaps show excerpts and not full posts…
