I’m trying to find the listing of my books. I created a menu including /book and /books after the site name but get a page not found message. I’ve also tried /tb_book and /tb_books. Is there no way to list all of the books on the site? When I attempt to create a menu, there is not a page found. Does Totally Booked not create pages for listing in the menu as a page and not a link?

    Thank you,

    M

    Hi mcommini,
Do you have a link for your site, so we can take a look?

Have you been able to add and save at least one book via the plugin?

If so, when you edit that book, what link does it show as a permalink beneath the book title box?

The plugin generates a yoursite.com/books/ link by default, but you can change that in the Update Settings>Advanced Options Tab>Book Archive Slug box, if you’d prefer a different slug name.

Let me know how we can help.

    Cheering you on,
    Kelli

Hi Kelli, thanks for getting back to me. 🙂 NonnoVecchio.net is the site. I tried going to NonnoVecchio.net/books/ but keep getting a page not found message. To my knowledge, nothing has changed in the Advanced Settings and since I’m the only one with access to the admin area, I’m confident that’s not the problem.

I did manage to get an author page up so I can list all of my books. However, I was hoping for a generic book page so I can list all books on my site. Perhaps I misunderstood the plug-in’s capabilities?

    Thank you,

    Mike aka Nonno

    Mike,
Buon giorno! It’s lovely to meet you, at least here online. Your site is such fun 🙂

Now let’s see if we can get this plugin working for you!

You definitely didn’t misunderstand the plugin’s capabilities. It should create a nonnovecchio.net/books/ section, exactly as you’ve said.

I see the same error you do, when I visit that page, so I know something wacky is happening.

Let me ask you this: when you go to the TotallyBooked plugin menu from your dashboard, and you view all books, and then you Edit one of those books, (Like the Diamond the Desert Shepherd Dog book, for instance) what link appears as the permalink beneath the book title box?

Wow! That was fast! 🙂 I am physically in the Middle East and our day is just beginning here.. I will not be able to answer again until after work in 8 hours. In the meantime, the permalink for Diamond is http://nonnovecchio.net/?tb_book=diamond-the-desert-shepherd-dog-book-1-diamond-travels-saudi-arabia-paperback

Ok, gotta run… I’m facilitating a class in a few minutes. Thanks again,

You do not have pretty permalinks enabled.

Please go to Settings -> Permalinks in your admin dashboard and choose from the common options.

This will create the “/books” page as well as a pretty URL’s for everything in your site – eg: http://nonnovecchio.net/?page_id=33 will become http://nonnovecchio.net/about-nonno-vecchio (you can edit the slug for your pages in the page edit screen. )

Please let us know if you have any more problems.

    Cheers

That did the trick, thanks! 🙂 Is there a trick to getting just the published books on the page, excluding the Coming Soon books?

If you set the post status to draft or pending review on the right hand side in the box titled “Publish” it won’t show up on the site, if you do there is something very funky going on.

    Cheers
    Ben
